The Tangkhul term 'Khangserla' has often been used to label a woman as promiscuous or outlandish. This photo essay relooks at the word. It portrays the Khangserla as a confident, stylish, and self-aware woman—one who lives outside the traditional constraints of patriarchy. Through these images, we celebrate her strength and individuality, giving new meaning to an old word.
